Social Wakefield Partners with Theatre Royal Wakefield
There’s little to beat a night at the theatre – or an afternoon if you fancy a matinee performance. Great for families or couples, friends or even a solo evening to escape from it all, going to the theatre has always been something special.
Our mission at Social Wakefield is to bring you the latest news on entertainment and what’s on for the family, so we’re excited to partner with Theatre Royal and report back on events and shows happening in this long-established, much loved old theatre.
Our Theatre is One of the Best
Frank Matcham designed the Theatre Royal. He was one of our most prestigious theatrical designers during the 19th century and was also the creative vision behind the London Palladium and the Blackpool Grand Theatre, as well as many more in the UK.
Wakefield is a great place anyway, but having our own Frank Matcham theatre definitely helps put us on the social map.
Shows and Entertainment for all the family
Live entertainment is as good as it gets. If the closest you’ve been to a show is the cinema, imagine the big screen on steroids. Actually seeing people on stage, watching them act, sing or dance is a magical experience for all age groups.
Theatre Royal always has a packed programme of events and we aim to keep you fully informed about what’s on in Wakefield. Every month the packed theatre programme includes shows like murder thrillers, children’s productions, orchestral evenings, or singer celebrity tribute nights.
Community friendly, they offer school groups special privileges like extended reservation times and pre-ordering interval refreshments. It’s also possible to hire the auditorium for special private events like dance shows or amateur performances. And of course, during regular shows there’s the Circle Bar or the Stalls Bar where everyone gathers for a natter during the intermission.
Social Wakefield and Theatre Royal
We’re really looking forward to keeping you up to date on family entertainment at the theatre, and of course attending various corporate events. The first will be the Gala Dinner at the beginning of March, which we’re really looking forward to. Keep an eye on the blog as we’ll publish some photos to share the evening with you.
The wonderful Victorian building is pure elegance from skirting to ceiling. During performances it resonates with the buzz you only get at live shows: it’s the hum of chatter as the audience takes their seats, then that special expectant hush that falls when the performance is about to start. You have to be there.
We’ll bring you regular news on current and upcoming shows and entertainment for all the family, so stay tuned (or subscribe) so you don’t miss out.
